555 Class D Power Amplifier UPDATE
Update of my 555 Class D power amp.
About 10 years ago, I published a class D amplifier built around the good old 555 timer - Elektor 130144 I now have made some improvements on the original design.
The "non perfect" voltage to current convertor is updated to a better FET version and I have add an input FET buffer.
I have used this amplifier in my living room all this time, next to a Menno Vanderveen UL40 tube amp as a reference, to the point where I can't hear any difference between both.
Both amps run without any overall feedback, what makes them so great in my opinion!

I see BD13x's driving the IRF's, possibly because the gate currents can be large. In contrast, the inverter 2N2222 is just a small power transistor. Any reason why?

Zunächst gab es ein Störgeräusch beim ersten Anschließen, nicht laut, aber wenn man es erst einmal gehört hat, hört man es eben dann immer. Ich habe daraufhin den 555er von verschiedenen Herstellern im rechten und linken Kanal benutzt, dann war Ruhe, bis heute....
Es gibt und gab immer wieder die Frage nach dem "reinsten" Versorgungstrom und viele Versuche, diesen zu erzeugen: "Regenerator von PS Audio, Filterschaltungen, Trenntrafos usw. Bei diesem Verstärker lässt sich diese Frage ganz einfach lösen. Man nehme 2 Stück 12 Volt Akkus mit je 7AH, schließe sie in Reihe und verbinde sie mit dem Versorgungsspannungseingang des Verstärkers. "Sauberer" geht es nicht.
Eine Frage habe ich am Schluss noch: wird eine PCB für das Update geben? Und wo kann man sie erhalten?

Another option could be to build two identical but separate mono amplifiers, both with their own powersupply.
About the pcb, i did not design any till now, i made the updates prototype style ....
